Claude Morin, a military controller, commissioned Renaissance interior decorations for the castle after returning from the Italian Wars in the early 16th century.
The interior walls display an extensive collection of grotesque paintings, mythological scenes, and astrological representations that reflect Renaissance artistic movements.
Adult admission costs 5 euros, while visitors under 26 years from European Union countries enter free of charge with valid identification.
The castle grounds include a conservation area dedicated to preserving ancient grape varieties from the Chareil-Cintrat and Saint-Pourçain regions.
