Château de Rosny-sur-Seine

The castle features a U-shaped layout with a central body flanked by two wings constructed in brick and limestone beneath slate roofs. The structure was built in the Louis XIII style and represents a classic example of French Renaissance architecture.

The Duke of Sully began construction in 1598 with funding from King Henry IV to create a residence replacing a medieval fortress destroyed during the Hundred Years War. This reconstruction marked the shift from the medieval period to the Renaissance in the Loire region.

The rooms display French Renaissance architecture with monumental fireplaces and paneled walls that reflect the wealth and power of its owners. These details remain visible today and tell of the craftsmanship of that era.

The entrance portal is decorated with military-themed ornaments including sculpted columns adorned with cannon barrels, grenades, and helmets. This unusual decoration reflects the Duke's military background and is a rare feature among French residences.
