Château de Saint-Chartier, Medieval castle in Saint-Chartier, France

The fortress features a central keep with four corner towers, a courtyard, and remains of a 13th-century arcade gallery along its eastern facade.

The initial construction started in the 12th century during the Hundred Years' War, with major modifications by the Chauvigny family in the 14th and 15th centuries.

French novelist George Sand selected this castle as the setting for her literary work 'Les Maîtres Sonneurs', highlighting its regional significance.

The castle hosts guided tours through its preserved sections, including the ramparts, northern and eastern curtain walls, and three remaining defensive towers.

For 32 years until 2008, the castle grounds served as the venue for the International Luthiers and Master Musicians Festival.
