Château de Sarzay, Medieval castle in Sarzay, France

The fortified structure features 38 defensive towers, three drawbridges, and deep moats surrounding a central residence with furnished period rooms.

The Barbançois family owned the castle from the mid-14th century, participating in battles during the Hundred Years War and constructing additional defensive towers.

French author George Sand selected the castle as the primary setting for her 1845 novel 'Le Meunier d'Angibault', integrating it into French literature.

Visitors can access the castle daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, with guided tours lasting one hour and admission prices at 7 euros for adults.

The castle maintains 38 original towers from the medieval period, making it one of the most structurally complete defensive fortifications in central France.
