Château de Sassetot, Historic castle in Sassetot-le-Mauconduit, France.

Château de Sassetot is an 18th-century castle displaying classical proportions and details across its facades and roof structures, with an orangery and a distinctive dovecote on the grounds. Today it operates as a hotel-restaurant serving both guests and visitors.

Construction began in 1772 under Jean-Robert Bigot's direction. A century later, the property was purchased and extensively restored by Albert Perquer, a wealthy shipbuilder from Le Havre.

The estate served as a temporary residence for Austria's Empress Elisabeth in 1875, when she arrived with roughly 70 courtiers for an extended stay. This royal visit left a lasting mark on the place's local memory.

The castle is accessible today as a hotel with dining facilities and guest rooms. Visitors interested in seeing the architecture or dining should check in advance what access and services are currently available.

The property received official protection as a historical monument in 1975, with special designation for its facades, roofing, orangery, and dovecote structures. This comprehensive safeguarding reflects how each component contributes to the site's overall heritage value.
