Château de Segrez, Historical castle in Saint-Sulpice-de-Favières, France

The Château de Segrez features 18th-century architecture with two wings added in the 19th century and stands in the Renarde Valley.

Noble farmer André Haudry invested 60000 livres in 1733 for the construction of the castle and the initial garden layout.

Between 1857 and 1884, botanist Pierre-Alphonse-Martin Lavallée established a botanical collection of 6500 plant species on the estate.

The facades, roofs, and grotto of the castle received historical monument protection status in January 2009.

Writer Marcel Proust spent one night at the castle in April 1895 during an asthma attack and later wrote about this experience.
