Château de Mareuil, Medieval castle in Mareuil en Périgord, France.

The triangular fortress features two round towers framing the entrance, leading to an inner courtyard with a square keep containing a monumental staircase.

The castle, rebuilt in the late 15th century on older foundations, served as one of the four baronies of Périgord alongside Beynac, Biron, and Bourdeilles.

The castle contains a First Empire room displaying furniture and documents connected to Marshal Lannes, Duke of Montebello, who lived from 1769 to 1809.

Visitors can schedule 45-minute guided tours in French, German, or English by contacting chateaudemareuil@gmail.com or visiting 27 rue du château.

The interiors feature wooden paneling and 17th-century wooden fireplaces, while water-filled moats encircle the entire structure.
