Château de Marnay

Château de Marnay rises on a natural hill and is surrounded by sixteen turrets protecting the main building. The entire complex features cut stone masonry throughout, representing one of the region's significant fortified structures.

Construction of the castle began in the 13th century to monitor the route between Besancon and Langres. Major renovations occurred in the 16th century and early modern period as the fortification evolved.

The castle has shaped Marnay's skyline for centuries and its stone walls carry traces of different periods. The facades tell the story of various construction phases and the significance this place held for the region.

The castle can be viewed from Place Jean de Joinville in central Marnay, where its facades and various sections are clearly visible. You can walk around the square to find different vantage points for observing the full structure.
