Château de Sotteville

The Château de Sotteville stands in a valley 6 kilometers from the sea, at the border between Cherbourg-Valognes bocage and La Hague region.

Built between 1593 and 1610 by the Durevie family, the castle replaced earlier medieval foundations and underwent modifications in the late nineteenth century.

The architecture displays characteristic Cotentin features including square-sectioned mullions, triangular pediments, and vaulted windows throughout the structure.

The privately owned castle opens its exterior spaces to visitors during specific months, with guided tours available to explore the grounds and gardens.

The castle grounds contain a nineteenth-century English landscape garden with a large water feature and an ancient wash house fed by a stream.
