Château de Talmay

Château de Talmay is a building that combines structures from different periods and styles. At its core stands a square tower topped with a pyramidal roof, flanked by an elegant wing built in 1762, with a bell tower completing the composition.

The site began as a fortification meant to defend the border region. Over centuries, it underwent changes that shaped its current form, with significant building work continuing into the 1700s.

The French-style gardens shape how visitors experience the grounds with their geometric patterns and balanced layouts. Walking through these spaces reveals how the design creates a sense of order and invites people to move along specific paths.

The site is best visited during warmer months when the grounds are fully open to explore. Comfortable walking shoes are helpful since you will encounter different paths and levels around the grounds.

From the watchtower you can see across to the Jura mountains while standing where guards once looked out for threats. This vantage point reveals why this location was chosen for defense and what those guards were watching over.
