Château de Pramenoux

Château de Pramenoux is a castle in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes that blends medieval foundations from the 14th century with later modifications. The building underwent substantial renovations in the 17th and 19th centuries, creating layers of architectural development across its exterior and rooms.

The property first appeared in written records around 997 in documents from Savigny Abbey, establishing over a thousand years of continuous history. It was seized after the French Revolution but subsequently restored to its owners, allowing it to survive intact.

The castle reflects how French noble residences evolved from defensive strongholds into spaces for hosting guests and gatherings. Its rooms today serve as a venue where this transition from fortress to hospitable manor is physically evident.
