Château de Ravignan, Historic castle in Perquie, France.
Château de Ravignan is a 17th-century residence featuring a central pavilion flanked by residential wings with end pavilions at each side. The structure preserves its original symmetrical layout and architectural proportions from that era.
The central and eastern sections were built in 1663 by Alcibiade de Mesmes following the Wars of Religion that had devastated the region. This construction marked the beginning of a period of recovery and restoration for the area.
The castle displays a substantial collection of engravings depicting Henri IV and period clothing from the 18th century that reflect daily life in earlier times.
The property is open during summer months with guided tours available through the rooms and grounds. Visitors can also explore the Armagnac cellars where the traditional production of this brandy is demonstrated.
The estate maintains three centuries of documented Armagnac production on its grounds, making it a rare example of continuous brandy-making tradition in the region.
