Château de Reverseaux

Château de Reverseaux is a castle in Les Villages Vovéens, France, featuring classical French architecture with a central courtyard and twin Louis XIII pavilions. The grounds include outbuildings such as a dovecote and ice house, surrounded by a moat system and tree-lined pathways.

The castle was built between 1715 and 1730, embodying early 18th century architectural style. It later became the residence of Marshal Gouvion Saint-Cyr, who served as Minister of Navy and War under Louis XVIII.

The chapel inside the castle displays religious artworks spanning several periods and serves as a quiet space visitors often discover during their exploration. Local residents occasionally use the grounds for personal celebrations and appreciate the crafted details throughout the interior.

The grounds are accessible on foot and visitors can explore the exterior areas independently or join guided tours. Comfortable shoes are recommended since pathways can be uneven and exploring the various buildings takes time.

The north and south facades display flat pilasters and rounded pediments, a rare design feature of early 18th century transitional style. These elements distinguish the building from the more symmetrical facades typical of castles from the same period.
