Château du Bois-Glaume

Château du Bois-Glaume is a castle near Poligné with a grand entrance façade featuring a dovecote built from wattle and daub, accompanied by a communal bakery at its front. The buildings show how a country estate combined living quarters with working facilities that served the local community.

The present castle was built to replace a medieval fortress that once stood on this site. It was officially recognized as a protected historical monument in 1972, ensuring its architectural legacy would be preserved for the future.

The chapel displays early 18th century religious architecture with a marble altarpiece that reflects French spiritual traditions of its time. It shows how faith and craftsmanship were intertwined in the daily life of those who lived here.

The castle is located roughly 50 kilometers west of Rennes and is accessible by local roads. It offers event organization services and maintains a website where visitors can find information about visiting and viewing arrangements.

The property includes a park with oak trees more than a hundred years old and a pond that are part of the natural landscape of the grounds. The Berthélémé family currently oversees restoration and maintenance work to preserve these features for future visitors.
