Château du Buisson-de-Mai

The Château du Buisson-de-Mai is a neoclassical castle in Saint-Aquilin-de-Pacy with a rectangular main building and four symmetrical corner pavilions. The brick facades display stone quoins and window pediments, with bell towers crowning each pavilion.

The Buisson-de-Mai estate has been documented since the 15th century and was held by the Bordeaux family from Vernon for generations. The property underwent significant architectural developments that shaped its present form.

The diagonal access path was designed in 1781 by architect Jacques-Denis Antoine to create a staged discovery route. This was a deliberate architectural choice to orchestrate how visitors first encounter the building.
