Claude de Lorraine, Duke of Guise, constructed this castle between 1533 and 1546 as a grand pavilion for entertainment near his primary residence.
The castle hosts classical music concerts and contemporary art exhibitions as part of the European network of Cultural Meeting Centers.
Visitors can explore the four-hectare gardens containing 365 fruit trees, medicinal herbs, and aromatic plants throughout the restored grounds.
The basement level contains extensive wine cellars and kitchens that supported large-scale events during the castle's function as a banquet house.
