Château du Grand Jardin

The Château du Grand Jardin is a Renaissance castle in Joinville featuring Italian architectural elements beneath a French slate roof with dormer windows. It sits surrounded by a water-filled moat and expansive grounds containing over 300 fruit trees along with medicinal and aromatic plants.

Claude de Lorraine, Duke of Guise, built this castle between 1533 and 1546 as a grand pavilion for entertainment adjacent to his primary residence. The structure has been preserved through the centuries and now holds status as a protected historical monument.

Today the castle serves as a venue for concerts and art exhibitions that draw visitors from the region. Its rooms host cultural events that connect the building's past with contemporary artistic expression.
