Château du Hallier

Château du Hallier is a ruined castle in Nibelle featuring ten prominent towers constructed from brick and stone. The combination of these materials is visible throughout the fortification's walls and defensive structures.

Charles de l'Hospital began construction in 1544, creating a structure that marked the shift from medieval fortifications to residential estates. The project emerged during a period of significant change in French architectural design.

The castle grounds once witnessed the romantic encounters between King Henri IV and Henriette d'Entragues during the French Renaissance period.

The castle remains privately owned, so visitors can only view the exterior from the public road nearby. You can walk along the perimeter to observe the towers and walls from outside.

One of the towers served as a pottery kiln through the early 1900s, showing how the structure was repurposed for craft production. This industrial use reveals an unexpected chapter in the building's later history.
