Château de Bity, Historic castle in Sarran, France
Château de Bity is a castle in Sarran with a rectangular main building and four square towers positioned at its corners. Each tower features a watchtower mounted on corbels that projects outward, creating the building's distinctive silhouette.
A fire destroyed the original structure in 1579, but reconstruction began at the start of the 17th century and created the building visitors see today. This rebuild marked a turning point in how the castle developed and what it became.
The building displays architectural elements from the 17th and 18th centuries, with two pavilions framing the southern side and garden spaces. These layers reflect different construction periods and how people adapted the structure over generations.
Visitors can walk around the grounds to view the building from different angles and appreciate the towers and pavilions from various perspectives. The exterior provides plenty of opportunities to photograph the structure and examine its architectural details.
The building and its pavilions received official protection as Historical Monuments in 1969. This designation ensures that the original features are safeguarded for the future.
