Château de la Cassine, Medieval castle ruins in Vendresse, France.

The stone remains of Château de la Cassine extend across the landscape, with partial walls and architectural elements revealing its former grandeur.

Louis IV de Nevers constructed the castle in 1571, which later became the property of master ironworker Jean-Nicolas Gendarme in 1820.

The castle grounds transform into an outdoor performance venue during summer months, presenting sound and light shows about regional history.

The site includes a 300-meter-long gallery with seating for 1,700 people and hosts monthly peasant markets from March through December.

The castle structure, damaged by fire in 1927, maintains its original form without restoration, allowing visitors to examine authentic 16th-century construction methods.
