Collégiale Notre-Dame d'Uzeste, Gothic church in Uzeste, France

The collegiate church features a Gothic nave with Romanesque walls, sixteen pillars supporting vaults, and a hexagonal tower above the sanctuary.

Built in the 13th century as the Church of Blessed Mary, it was enlarged in the 14th century by Pope Clement V, who chose it as his burial place.

The south portal tympanum displays a carved coronation of the Virgin with remaining traces of original paint on its stone surface.

The church restoration project received 176,000 euros from the Heritage Lottery in 2020 to repair the tower and spire structural issues.

This religious monument contains two polychrome wooden crucifixes from the 15th and 17th centuries and a 14th-century Virgin and Child statue.
