Collégiale de Saint-Bonnet-le-Château

The Collégiale Saint-Bonnet features three basilica-type vessels with high vaults and buttresses, displaying characteristic elements of Gothic architecture from multiple centuries.

Construction of the current collegiate church began in 1400, with major works completed by 1418, following donations from wealthy patrons including Guillaume Taillefer.

The lower chapel contains early 15th-century mural paintings, while an 18th-century library houses a collection of ancient books and manuscripts.

Visitors can access the collegiate church and mummy vault daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, while the library, bell tower, and lower chapel require guided tours.

The church contains preserved skeletons, discovered during 19th-century renovations, maintained in their state due to specific soil conditions.
