St. Lawrence's Collegiate Church, Ibos

St. Lawrence's Collegiate Church in Ibos is a Gothic structure with a monumental apse and a square bell tower featuring a clock on its front face. The building combines elements from different periods and demonstrates a blend of architectural styles across its structure.

In 1342, King Philippe VI of Valois, ruler of France and regent of Bigorre County, established a collegiate foundation here. This act transformed this location into a significant religious center for the surrounding region.

The interior holds artworks spanning the 17th and 18th centuries, including a carved pulpit by Marc Ferrère and a Spanish wooden statue of Saint Lawrence. These pieces reflect the artistic importance this place held for the wider region across generations.

This building sits at the junction of several historic walking trails, including the GR 101 path that leads toward the Via Tolosana pilgrimage route. This positioning makes the site readily accessible for pilgrims and hikers exploring the wider network of religious routes.

The nave in southern French style dates to the late 14th century and represents the building's oldest section. The polygonal choir was added later in the early 15th century, showing how the complex expanded gradually over time.
