Commanderie de Sours

The Commanderie de Sours is an order estate in the French village of Sours with stone buildings, fortifications, and farm structures. The complex spreads across a large rural area with different sections for religious life and farming operations.

The estate was founded in 1192 by the Templars as an important outpost for their order. After the Templars were dissolved in 1312, the Knights of Saint John took over and continued managing the lands.

The buildings show how religious and economic roles worked together in a medieval estate. You can see from the layout how both spiritual and farming life took place in the same community.

The estate is located in central Sours and can be easily reached via Rue de la Commanderie. The site is walkable, and you can explore the different areas of the complex on foot.

The complex has underground passages that connect to nearby castles and churches. These hidden tunnels reveal how medieval fortifications in the region were linked to one another.
