Grotte de Cussac, Paleolithic cave with engravings in Le Buisson-de-Cadouin, France.
The 1.6-kilometer-long gallery contains more than 150 engravings depicting mammoths, horses, bison, rhinoceroses, and birds carved into clay walls.
Amateur speleologist Marc Delluc discovered the cave on September 30, 2000, leading to its immediate classification as a French historical monument.
The cave features four distinct female profile engravings and contains the remains of five individuals from the Gravettian period, dated to 25,000 years ago.
Access to the cave remains restricted to scientific research teams, with ongoing studies focusing on 3D mapping and anthropological documentation.
The site represents one of the few European locations where Paleolithic wall art exists alongside human burial remains.
