The Neufchatel family acquired the fortress in 1373 and reinforced its defenses between 1430 and 1450 to adapt to artillery warfare developments.
The Vieux Châtel association organizes guided tours and educational programs focusing on medieval military architecture and fortress construction techniques.
Visitors can explore the site through 90-minute guided tours that include access to underground galleries, fortified walls, and archaeological findings.
The northern side features a 57-meter-wide defensive ditch protected by a double artillery wall system, demonstrating advanced medieval military engineering.
