François-Louis Ferron, seigneur du Chesne, began building this townhouse in 1718; it was completed in 1720. It served as a town house for the Ferron and then the Bazin de Jessey families until the city of Dinan bought it in 1929. Afterwards it housed Dinan's music school and later the local magistrates' court.

The building was a town house (maison de ville) for the Ferron and Bazin de Jessey families from its construction in 1720 until the city of Dinan bought it in 1929. The name on the blue panel above the glass entrance door, "Hôtel Bazin de Jessey", recalls the family that gave the mansion its present name.

The building is located in central Dinan and is easy to find within the town. The structure has adapted to different uses over time, serving functions ranging from a family residence to institutional purposes.
