Hôtel Montaudouin

Hôtel Montaudouin is a Neoclassical private mansion on Place Maréchal-Foch featuring a symmetrical facade with Corinthian columns that support a pediment adorned with sculpted coats of arms in the Italian loggia style. The structure demonstrates the formal composition typical of this architectural period.

Jean-Baptiste Ceineray designed this residence in the late 18th century during the height of Neoclassical style in Nantes. It received protected monument status in 1951 specifically for its facades and roof structures.

The building reflects how wealthy Nantes families expressed their status through elegant private residences during the city's expansion. Such mansions shaped the character of the square and demonstrated the connection between prosperity and architectural taste.

The exterior remains visible from Place Maréchal-Foch, though the interior is usually closed to visitors. Access inside is possible only during heritage day events when special tours are organized.
