Its pale stone facade has round-arched ground-floor openings with metal balcony rails, tall windows framed by pilasters, and small busts set on the pilaster caps. It now holds nine luxury apartments.

Architect Félix Duban designed this private mansion in 1839 for James-Alexandre de Pourtalès, a Swiss banker and art collector. The building reflects 19th-century taste and received official monument status in 2002.

The building is named after its original owner, a wealthy Swiss banker, and the facade still displays the refined proportions characteristic of its era.
