Jardin des Poètes

The Jardin des Poètes is an urban park covering about 13,400 square meters with walking paths, green spaces, and various trees including a black pine planted in 1900. The grounds feature children's playgrounds, water fountains, and public restrooms accessible from multiple entrances.

The park opened in 1954 following the initiative of Pascal Bonetti, honorary president of the French Poets Society, and was inaugurated by the Mayor of Paris and Education Minister. This founding reflected the city's commitment to honoring French literary heritage.

Stone plaques with verses from French poets are scattered throughout the park, and statues and busts honor literary figures like Victor Hugo and Jean Moréas. Walking through the grounds, visitors can encounter these literary tributes and sense how poetry is celebrated in this public space.

The park has multiple entrances on Avenue du Général-Sarrail and Avenue de la Porte-d'Auteuil, making it easy to access on foot. Visitors should allow time to explore different sections and note that the grounds feel different depending on the season.

The park holds Ecojardin certification for its environmental practices, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable gardening methods. This recognition shows how ecological responsibility is put into practice within an urban setting.
