Maison Bloc

Maison Bloc is a modernist residence in Meudon featuring curved concrete volumes with large bay windows and stone accents throughout. The structure opens toward the surrounding landscape with generous glazing that frames views of the nearby forest.

Architect André Bloc designed and built this residence in 1949, applying his engineering expertise to create innovative architectural solutions. The building received protected status in 1983, marking its recognition as an important example of post-war architectural innovation.

The residence embodies the fusion of architecture and sculpture through its expressive concrete forms that shape how people move through space. These curved volumes turn everyday living areas into works of artistic expression.

The residence is located on rue des Capucins and remains a private home, so interior visits are not possible. However, visitors can view the exterior and garden sculptures from the street and public areas nearby.

Two monumental habitable sculptures were added to the garden between 1964 and 1966, extending the residential concept into outdoor space. These artworks reveal how Bloc dissolved boundaries between interior and exterior, between building and sculpture.
