The Maison Jean Vilar operates as a resource center containing exhibitions, a library, and performance spaces within a historical building in central Avignon.

Established in 1979 through a partnership between the Jean Vilar Association and the National Library of France, the center preserves the legacy of theater director Jean Vilar.

The permanent exhibition displays costumes, manuscripts, photographs, and videos documenting Jean Vilar's leadership at the Festival d'Avignon from 1947 to 1971.

Visitors can access the center from Tuesday through Saturday between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, with guided tours departing every hour during opening times.

The center maintains an extensive collection of performing arts documents through its connection with the National Library of France's specialized department.
