Mont Boussuivre, Mountain summit in Loire, France
Mont Boussuivre is a mountain summit in the Loire region and part of the Monts de Tarare range within the Massif Central system. The mountain offers several hiking paths with viewpoints accessible from surrounding towns.
The Matagrin building dates to 1876 and was originally built as a hunting lodge. A boundary marker from the Napoleonic era remains embedded in its walls.
The summit is linked to the Matagrin Tower, a landmark structure that defines the village of Violay and draws people throughout the year. This tower has become a symbol of the region and gives the place its character.
The best time to visit is during warmer months when the paths are easy to walk and views are clear. Good footwear and water supplies are advisable for longer hikes.
An orientation table at the summit makes it possible to identify fourteen different administrative departments in the distance. On clear days, Mont Blanc and the Alps to the east become clearly visible.
