Montagne de Lachens, Mountain summit in Var, France
Mont Lachens reaches 1715 meters in elevation, featuring dense forests on its northern slope and sparse vegetation on the southern face.
The mountain area contains ruins of ancient fortifications, including the Sainte-Magdeleine castle and the Esclapon Roman military camp.
Local mountain communities maintain traditional festivals throughout the year, celebrating their connection to this highest peak of the Var department.
Visitors can access the summit via the forest road from Col de Clavel on D21 or through multiple hiking trails starting from La Roque-Esclapon.
