Oratoire de Saint-Céneré, Medieval oratory and chapel in Saulges, France

The stone chapel contains a polychrome wooden statue of Saint Céneré and four stained glass windows from the late nineteenth century.

Built in 1849 by the Marquis de la Rochelambert, the oratory replaced an earlier wooden structure that protected a revered statue of Saint Céneré.

Local inhabitants of Maine and Anjou gather at Saulges around August 15th to honor their patron saint through religious ceremonies and celebrations.

Two stairways lead visitors up the hill to access the oratory, which stands one kilometer from the center of Saulges.

A natural spring flows beneath the chapel, leading residents to nickname the site 'the little saint who urinates' due to its constant water flow.
