Château des Linières

Château des Linières is a castle in Val-du-Maine featuring four corner pavilions, a central defensive tower, and adjoining wings decorated with Renaissance architectural details from the 16th century. The structure combines defensive elements with stately proportions and formal design details throughout.

The castle was built around 1640 by Jacques Philippe de Girard, Marquis de Charnacé, and incorporated older structural elements from the 15th century. This blend of construction phases shows how medieval features were adapted into the new residence.

The castle now serves as a venue for opera performances that draw audiences throughout the year. These events have made it a gathering place where people come together to experience music and theater.

Inside, a wooden staircase from the early 1600s features painted decorations hidden beneath its steps. Two stone fireplaces with carved ornaments showcase the skilled craftsmanship that went into the interior details.
