Moulin du Verger

Moulin du Verger is a paper mill on the banks of the Eaux Claires river where paper has been made using traditional methods for centuries. The building contains production rooms where raw materials are processed, along with workshop areas for specialized techniques such as bookbinding and paper restoration.

The mill was founded in 1539 and underwent significant renovation in 1635 through a Dutch paper merchant's involvement. These early changes shaped the production methods that continue to be used today.

Papermakers here maintain handcraft traditions passed down through generations, relying on the river's water quality for their work. Visitors can watch how raw materials are gradually transformed into high-quality paper now used for restoration work and special printing projects.

The site is open to visitors year-round and offers activities such as papermaking, bookbinding, and restoration work. It is helpful to check ahead about which workshops are available on specific days, as these may vary depending on the season.
