The Wilson Bridge extends 434 meters across the Loire River with 15 arches connecting the northern avenue of Tranchée to Nationale Street in the south.
Built between 1765 and 1778, this structure replaced the 11th-century Eudes Bridge and received historical monument status from the French government in 1926.
The bridge name commemorates US President Woodrow Wilson, reflecting the connection between France and America during World War I when American troops stationed in Tours.
The structure accommodates tram line A, pedestrian paths, and cycling lanes, making it a central transportation route through Tours for daily commuters.
In 1978, a section of the bridge collapsed due to erosion issues, interrupting water supply to 110,000 residents and requiring a four-year reconstruction period.
