Musée du compagnonnage, Museum of craftsmanship in Tours, France
The Musée du Compagnonnage exhibits collections of tools, drafts, and masterpieces made from wood, stone, metal, leather, textiles, and food products.
The museum opened in 1968 in the former Saint-Julien Abbey, presenting artifacts from the French craftsmen guilds known as Compagnons du Tour de France.
The museum displays over 4,000 objects relating to thirty different crafts, including ceremonial staffs, insignias, and traditional tools of French artisans.
Located at 8 rue Nationale, the museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, except on Tuesdays.
The collection features intricate works such as miniature park gates, chained wooden clogs, sugar pagodas, and carved slate manor houses.
