Pont de Fleurville

The Pont de Fleurville is a metal bridge spanning the Saone River in France that connects Pont-de-Vaux and Montbellet. The structure features a single traffic lane with traffic light controls to manage vehicles crossing one at a time.

The structure was designed and built in 1898 by engineers from Schneider's Creusot plant. War damage in 1944 led to its reconstruction, which was completed in 1946.

The bridge links two different communities and is part of daily life for people traveling between them. It represents a practical meeting point where residents and visitors pass through without delay.

Keep in mind that traffic flows in one direction at a time here, controlled by traffic lights. It is better to allow extra time when crossing and to be patient with the timing.

The original bridge carried not just cars but also a freight train with metric gauge track. This dual use made it an interesting technical solution when it was first built.
