Gignac Bridge, Stone arch bridge in Gignac, France

The bridge stretches 174 meters across the Herault River with three arches, including a central span measuring 48 meters in width.

Construction of this structure began in 1776 under architect Bertrand Garipuy and continued through the French Revolution until its completion in 1810.

The bridge received official recognition as a protected historical monument in 1950, marking its importance in French architectural heritage.

Visitors can access viewing points along the riverbank through dedicated steps, offering perspectives of the bridge's stone architecture.

Before construction, engineers built a miniature model of the bridge to evaluate its architectural design and demonstrate building techniques.
