Église Notre-Dame de Lanville, Romanesque priory in Marcillac-Lanville, France.
Église Notre-Dame de Lanville is a Romanesque priory church in the village of Marcillac-Lanville. The building follows a Latin cross plan with a single nave, a large dome over the crossing beneath the bell tower, and retains its medieval architectural features from different periods.
The priory was founded around 1120 under Augustinian canons and operated independently for centuries. In 1652 it became affiliated with the Abbey of Sainte-Genevieve in Paris.
The church displays wall paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, particularly in the southern chapel. These frescoes show how religious imagery surrounded the people who worshipped here during those periods.
The building is located in Marcillac-Lanville and stands as a fixed monument open to visitors. The church preserves many of its medieval features that can be observed during a visit.
The church facade collapsed in 1903 and was later rebuilt with support from a local family. This reconstruction allowed the building to continue serving as a parish church to this day.
