Pont de l'Abîme, Suspension bridge in Haute-Savoie, France

The Pont de l'Abîme is a metal suspension bridge that crosses the Chéran river between the communes of Cusy and Gruffy. The structure spans about 64 meters and rises approximately 96 meters above the water level.

Engineer Ferdinand Arnodin designed and built this bridge in 1891 to connect the two sides of the Chéran river. The project reflected the region's industrial development during the late 1800s.

The bridge serves as a gathering place for hikers and cyclists who stop to rest and take in views of the valley below. For locals and visitors alike, it has become a spot where people naturally pause to appreciate the surrounding landscape.

The bridge is mainly accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, so wear comfortable shoes and ensure your bike is in good condition for the crossing. During wet weather, the surface can become slippery, so move carefully and take your time.

The bridge gets its name from the abyss it spans, which looks impressive from above. Brave visitors can look down at the dramatic drop to the gorge and river below.
