Réserve naturelle nationale des Ramières du Val de Drôme

Réserve naturelle nationale des Ramières du Val de Drôme is a protected river zone with natural braided channels and multiple water flows. The area contains diverse habitats such as floodplain forests, gravel banks, and reed beds that form a rich river landscape together.

This protected area was established in 1987 to safeguard one of Europe's remaining natural river systems. It became part of a network of about 20 river reserves created across France to preserve river ecosystems.

The interpretation center La Gare des Ramières shares exhibitions about the river ecosystem and organizes guided visits for guests. The facility helps visitors understand why these riverbank landscapes matter for local animals and plants.

The reserve can be accessed from several parking areas that serve as starting points for walking and cycling routes. Picnic spots are located throughout the grounds, and wearing sturdy shoes and bringing weather protection is wise since path conditions change with the seasons.

The reserve is home to around 20 beaver families living in their natural territory and shaping the river ecosystem through their activities. Visitors may notice signs of their presence such as felled trees and dams during quiet early morning or dusk hours.
