Réserve naturelle nationale des Ramières du Val de Drôme, National nature reserve in the Drôme valley, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

The Réserve naturelle nationale des Ramières du Val de Drôme protects a 10 km stretch of the Drôme across Allex, Chabrillan, Eurre, Grâne and Livron-sur-Drôme. Its 346 hectares, two-thirds on the public river domain, hold a braided channel of pale grey water threads winding between bare gravel and sand bars, bordered on both banks by dense strips of willows and poplars, within flat farmland.

The reserve was created by decree on 2 October 1987, covering 346 hectares along 10 km of the Drôme in the communes of Allex, Chabrillan, Eurre, Grâne and Livron-sur-Drôme. In 1993 the Communauté de communes du Val de Drôme bought the former station hotel-restaurant at Allex to set up an educational and scientific site; it has been managed by the community since 1999. A 2005 prefectoral biotope protection order added 57 hectares at the Freydières site.

The interpretation center La Gare des Ramières shares exhibitions about the river ecosystem and organizes guided visits for guests. The facility helps visitors understand why these riverbank landscapes matter for local animals and plants.

The reserve stretches 10 km along the Drôme through Allex, Chabrillan, Eurre, Grâne and Livron-sur-Drôme. The public reception point is La Gare des Ramières in Allex, in the former station hotel-restaurant bought by the Val de Drôme community in 1993 and opened to the public in 2008. Paths cross gravel bars and floodplain woods, so expect uneven ground.

The reserve's bird list reaches 200 species: 70 nest there, among them the little ringed plover, European bee-eater and kingfisher, while 100 migrate through or winter on the gravel bars, including white and black storks and ospreys. Inventories also record 46 dragonfly species, such as the Mercury agrion.
