Réserve naturelle nationale des marais de Séné

The reserve extends over 530 hectares along the Noyalo River, incorporating mudflats, salt meadows, coastal lagoons, and grasslands south of Vannes.

In 1720, the canons of Vannes Cathedral requested royal maritime concessions to build salt marshes, which operated until the French Revolution in 1789.

The reserve maintains 31 natural habitats of European importance and serves as a vital location for scientific research on migratory birds and wetland ecosystems.

Visitors can explore designated walking paths throughout the reserve, with guided tours available year-round for individuals, groups, and educational institutions.

The site hosts 220 bird species, including 76 regular breeding species, making it a primary stopover point for nearly all Western European shorebirds.
