Musée de la mine de Noyant-d'Allier

The museum features operational mining equipment, reconstructed underground galleries, and a reinforced concrete winding tower within former mining buildings from the industrial era.

Coal extraction at the Queune basin site began during the 16th century and continued until 1943, marking centuries of industrial development in the Noyant-d'Allier region.

The museum maintains a collection of mining tools and includes a reconstructed 1930s kitchen that represents the daily life of mining communities.

Visitors can take guided tours lasting 90 minutes, beginning with a documentary film and including a train ride around the site to observe mining equipment.

After the closure of the mines, the former workers' homes were given to families from Southeast Asia, creating a Vietnamese community in this French mining town.
