Saint-Félix, Nantes

Saint-Félix is a church with Neo-Gothic style in Nantes, featuring pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses that display this architectural tradition. The building rises near the château de la Haute-Forêt and houses an impressive organ from 1954.

Construction began in August 1843 according to architect Charles Raymond's plans on land near the château de la Haute-Forêt. The organ was inaugurated in 1954 and later restored by organ-builder Denis Lacorre in 2008.

The church is dedicated to Felix of Nantes, a 5th-century bishop whose legacy remains woven into the local religious landscape. Visitors can sense this connection between the sacred space and the community's spiritual traditions.

The interior offers good sightlines and an open layout that allows visitors to easily appreciate the architectural details. Weekday visits tend to be quieter, offering a better chance to take in the space at a comfortable pace.

All stained glass windows were created by Gabriel Loire, a renowned French glass artist known for his modern approach to the craft. These windows contribute significantly to the artistic quality of the interior and deserve close attention during a visit.
