Zouave du pont de l'Alma, Statue in Paris, France
The Zouave of the Alma Bridge is a statue located on the right bank of the Seine in Paris.
Installed in 1856, it commemorates the Battle of Alma during the Crimean War.
It serves as an unofficial flood marker for the River Seine.
When the Zouave's feet are under water, emergency flood procedures are put into place.
