Église Saint-Martin de Laon, Gothic church in Laon, France
The Saint-Martin church features two lateral tympanums on its facade and spans 75 meters in length with 35-meter-high towers reaching toward the sky.
The construction started in the 12th century for Premonstratensian congregation, with modifications continuing until the 18th century including tower reconstructions and vault additions.
The church contains numerous artistic elements including 17th-century paintings, wooden choir stalls, and medieval funeral sculptures that document regional religious practices.
The church opens daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, offering visitors access to explore its architectural features and historical monuments.
During the 1944 bombing, surrounding building destruction revealed previously hidden medieval structures connected to the church complex.
