Émetteur de Tramoyes, Radio transmitter in Tramoyes, France
The Émetteur de Tramoyes is a radio transmitter tower standing 253 meters tall in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Today it serves as a communications facility managed by TDF company and ITAS for infrastructure operations.
The transmitter was built in 1934 according to a national development plan and began broadcasting in 1935. It suffered damage during World War II but was fully restored with new equipment in 1947.
The transmitter played a key role in bringing radio programs to homes across the region for many decades. It connected listeners to national broadcasts that shaped their daily routines.
The site is located in the countryside and is easily visible from a distance across the landscape. Visitors should note that this is an active facility not open to the public for interior access.
German forces damaged the structure during the war, but its restoration in the late 1940s brought it back with more powerful equipment than before. This rebuilding made it a symbol of regional recovery after the conflict.
