Château de Brangues, Heritage castle in Brangues, France

The estate spans 17 hectares near the Rhone river and includes two towers, multiple wings, an orangery, and century-old tree-lined paths.

The Rossillon family initiated construction in the 14th century with a fortified tower, followed by expansions from the Bathernay family in the late 15th century.

French poet Paul Claudel acquired the castle in 1927, transforming it into a center for literary gatherings and artistic performances until his death.

Located one hour from Lyon and Grenoble, the castle opens to visitors during Heritage Days, with year-round access limited to Paul Claudel's tomb.

The castle features an unusual P-shaped layout with two-meter-thick walls and maintains a lyrical theater festival continuing Paul Claudel's artistic legacy.
